Disinfection by-products; Compounds that are formed by the reaction of naturally occurring and man-made substances with chlorine usually during the disinfection of water.  These compounds are suspected carcinogens.  The two main families of DBP are Trihalomethanes (THM) and Haloacetic Acids (HAA).
