Hazardous Material

DOT term in HMTA for materials that pose a
danger in transportation. According to DOT: “A substance or material, including
a hazardous substance, hazardous waste, marine pollutant or elevated
temperature material which has been determined by the Secretary of
Transportation to be capable of posing an unreasonable risk to health, safety
and property when transported in commerce and which as been so designated.”
